Mrs SA finalist teams up with recycling giants

Mrs SA finalist Mpho Ntontela and representatives from Mpact visited a local school to educate the children about the importance of recycling.

The little ones from Cliffview Pines Pre-primary School in Fairland recently discovered that recycling can be fun and exciting. This was all thanks to the glamorous 2017 Mrs South Africa Tammy Taylor Nails finalist, Mpho Ntontela, who teamed up with recycling giants Mpact to raise awareness among the children on 29 September.

The kiddies were fizzing with excitement as Adele Thompson from Mpact, Ronnie Recycler (the mascot) and Mpho stood in front of the children and showed them the types of paper the company uses for recycling.

“We visited Cliffview Pines Pre-school to educate the children on the importance of taking care of our environment through the Mpact education programme,” said Mpho, who was adorned in her pageant sash.

Adele added that the purpose of the project was to educate learners about the types of paper that can be recycled from their homes, so that it doesn’t end up in landfill sites. Instead, they can bring the paper to the school as a fundraising project.

The little ones also received little Ronnie bags to hold the paper they collect on a weekly basis to fill the green Ronnie Bank at the school.

Adele also encouraged more schools, businesses and community members to play their part in saving the environment by donating all their unwanted paper, magazines, newspapers, beverage cartons etc.

The Mrs SA pageant finals will take place at Emperore Palace on 17 November and will be aired on 19 November on SABC 3.
