Brickz’ defence appeals for lesser sentence

A life sentence should not be imposed on accused, the defence argued in court.

Rape accused kwaito star Sipho Brickz Ndlovu’s defence attorney, Piet du Plessis, has pleaded for a lenient sentence for up to eight years of imprisonment.

The Sweety my baby hit-maker is currently appearing in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court awaiting the handing down of his sentence.

He stands accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at his home in 2013.

As part of the argument in court, the Defence reminded the court that Brickz is already serving his punishment for disappointing his fans and destroying his musical career.

Du Plessis asked the court to approach the sentencing with caution and reminded the court that the victim was assisted to get over the incident and within six months everything was back to normal.

Magistrate John Baloyi has adjourned the court for 15 minutes.
