King’s West Rand learners try out ‘kotas’

Learners were taught a few Kwaito dance moves on their cultural day.

Learners at the King’s School West Rand improved their cultural knowledge on 22 September when the school hosted its cultural day with the children clad in their cultural outfits.

The school had a jam-packed programme for the little ones.

Learners enjoyed ‘kotas’ made for them by the teachers.

The exciting activities included learning how to dance ‘isipantsula’ which is a Kwaito dance, and sokkie – a style of music and dance popular in the Afrikaans community, playing drums, and field games.

The teachers concluded the day by making ‘kotas’, a traditional township sandwich, which was served to all learners.
