Pinehaven sewer crisis forces residents to sign petition

Pinehaven petition is currently sitting with over 80 signatures.

A sewer problem affecting residents close to the west and north of the Pinehaven (N14) intersection with the R28 has resulted in a petition being drawn up calling on the Mogale City Local Municipality to resolve the matter with urgency.

GJ Bronkhorst, a resident of Muldersdrift recently informed the Krugersdorp News about a leaking sewerage pipe near the Pinehaven intersection which is causing a threat to the health of residents in the area.

Bronkhorst called on Patrick Lipudi, Executive Mayor of Mogale City to address what he called the ‘life-threatening consequences of sewer problems west and north of the Pinehaven intersection’.

“We, the residents living within the urban edge and in the urban area around the Pinehaven node and the Heuningklip, Honingklip, Steynsvlei and Northvale holdings respectively, are asking Mogale City Local Municipality (the Council) to urgently provide sanitation and wastewater treatment facilities to circumvent and avoid a man-made disaster,” Bronkhorst expressed.

The petition, which has received over 80 signatures, listed a number of problems which are blamed on the council, including the health risk to residents, animals and wildlife, none of whom will be able to cope with the potential consequences. The report also shared information about Council’s failure to address the issue with property developers.
