Ruimsig Country Club's finance manager receives award for her contributions to the club.
Ruimsig Country Club’s (RCC) financial manager, Megan Spencer was named Employee of the Year at the annual awards evening of the Club Management Association of South Africa (CMASA)
The CMASA Awards, in association with Jonas, TORO, Club Car, Syngenta and Tsogo Sun, was held at the end of August at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. During the awards evening the top managers at South Africa’s sport and recreation clubs are recognised and is the pinnacle of achievement within the industry.
Megan was awarded for her development of an integrated financial management system at Ruimsig Country Club.
“Most people only see the beautiful club facilities and from there decide whether a club is successful or not. This award recognises behind-the-scenes staff and elements that help to make the club a success,” Megan said.
She added that being recognised by her colleagues, other clubs and the CMASA is a wonderful privilege. According to Megan, management support and confidence in the work were instrumental in her obtaining this award.
“I am currently working my way through the education offered by CMASA to further improve my knowledge and skills that will assist in adapting to the ongoing changes in the club industry. Maybe one day I’ll find myself at the helm of a club,” Megan added.
The judging took place over two months. Nominations were received from clubs for the relevant categories and presented to a judging panel of industry leaders and stakeholders. Each of the 17 nominees underwent a 45-minute interview with the judging panel, after which the judges made their final decisions.
