Power soon to be restored to Welties
Power should be restored to Weltevreden Park by 1.30pm
The community of Weltevreden Park is in the grip of another power outage due to cables being damaged by a contractor JG Strydom Road.
A contractor working on the F46 Rand Water Pipeline near Amarant Street hit two cables while working on the road on 11 September.

Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, explained that it is not a simple task to fix the issue as the cables lie two metres below ground and the trench, the side walls of which are not stable, is five metres deep. City Power was also further delayed in repairing the problem as they were unable to make repairs in the dark.

New side trenches had to be dug to reroute the cable and restore power. David was on site on the morning of 12 September and reported that City Power had removed water and old cables and were working on installing the new cables.
It is estimated that power will be restored by 1.30pm on 12 September.
