Young fighter brings home the medals
Local learner excels in recent Judo championships
Rachel Ross, a Grade 8 learner at Trinityhouse Little Falls High School brought home many medals from the Judo SA National Open Championships 2017.
She received a bronze medal for individual fights, a silver medal in team fights and a gold medal for first place in Johannesburg Judo. Rachel has been doing ju-jitsu for five years but only started judo six months ago. Although the two styles use similar techniques, the difference is in the way they are executed. She loves doing judo for fitness and self-defence.
“I love judo as it teaches self-discipline and self-control. I am so pleased with the outcome of the championships.
Wherever I go, I proudly represent myself, my family and Trinityhouse Little Falls. Thank you for everyone that has invested in my life to help me become a champion in this sport and in life,” Rachel said.
