Community members are invited to bowl for charity in Ruimsig
RUIMSIG – Families and companies alike are invited to play at the Kingsway Lawn Bowls Fundraiser.
Community members are invited to put their game faces on for a good cause and come play bowls for charity.
The Kingsway Lawn Bowls Fundraiser will see players take to the lawns at Ruimsig Country Club in aid of Kingsway Centre of Concern, a non-profit organisation that assists underprivileged children from Zandspruit informal settlement, through the Kingsway Christian School in Randpark Ridge and Thandanani House of Refuge in Zandspruit.

Marelise Bekker, the centre’s fundraiser, explained that the event runs from 9am until 2pm on 21 July.
“This will be a fun day out for everyone,” she said. “Often we have golf days but we wanted to do something that is not normally done, so this is our first bowls day.”
Bekker said that for families the event will offer fun in the sun with light exercise and for companies it will offer team-building and networking opportunities.
Her goal is to raise between R40 000 and R50 000 for the centre.
“The club will be on hand to help us out with the technique of bowls. Everyone who comes on their own will be put in a team, and after a while we will rotate some teams.”
She said 24 teams of four players each will battle it out on the day. The cost is R1 200 per team or R300 per player.
She appealed to anyone able to sponsor prizes, or interested in finding out more about the day to contact her.
