Honeydew residents make a clean sweep
HONEYDEW RIDGE – Residents clean up their neighbourhood for the betterment of all.
Inspired by the good work of volunteers who adopted and replanted the islands opposite the Sasol Garage on Mozart Street, residents of Honeydew Ridge Residential Estate decided to do their bit to keep their suburb beautiful.
Initiated by local resident Dawn Herbst, volunteers recently congregated at the entrance of the estate to conduct a litter cleanup along the pavements and islands in Mozart Street and Nic Diederichs Boulevard.

“Quick and easy, the whole exercise took approximately one and a half hours. Thank you to everyone involved,” said local resident, Terry van der Walt.
He said there is a good history of collaboration among the complexes and estates in this area. From working together to fence off vacant areas of veld to lobbying for fibre cables to be buried underground instead of strung above the ground, and in little initiatives like this clean-up, the complexes work together toward a better suburb.
Van der Walt said there is a real sense of community and achievement when people volunteer a little bit of elbow-grease here and there to make Honeydew the type of place they want to live in.
