Gateway’s winter market has people flocking to Ruimsig

RUIMSIG – Many feet walked through The Gateway Society's winter market for some great bargains.

About 3 000 people visited The Gateway Society to purchase a variety of goods at the annual winter market.

The market, held on 27 May, comprised 50 stalls ranging from food to flora. While adults were busy browsing the stalls, children had fun getting their faces painted and spent time on the jumping castle in the designated children’s area.

Fundraising manager for the market, Moira Short, said there were many new stalls this year which added to the variety. “We never expected such a huge crowd and the best part is that the weather has been so good, it is a beautiful day,” Short added.

Allison Angelo, Jean Smith and Avril Rush browse the stalls.

On behalf of the society, Short gave thanks to the volunteers who continue to support and believe in the society, as well as the parents and donors.

The society will host its Christmas Market at the end of the year.
