Community clean-ups can enhance property value
RADIOKOP – Local resident improves his community by embarking on a clean-up.
In a bid to uplift the community and enhance property values, a Radiokop resident Alec Lambert took it upon himself to beautify his surroundings without relying on the municipality to deliver services.
Lambert, a Honeyridge Estate resident, was bothered by the filth and untidiness of two road islands close to his property on Mozart Road.
“The islands were overgrown with weeds and filled with litter,” he said.
Lambert decided to fund a clean-up project by hiring his gardener and a street beggar to do the job.

“I hired my own gardener and I also gave a job to a beggar at the robots to start cleaning the big island and plant succulents and aloes. The wage, food, drinks and black bags amounted to R360,” Lambert added.
Having seen another resident, Lynne Sandham also taking some initiative, Lambert appealed to local businesses and residents to get involved.
“I cannot afford to do maintenance in the future and I would appreciate the assistance from residents and businesses to get involved,” he concluded.
