The pressure, effort and sacrifices that working mothers endure to get their children ready for school while stressing about arriving almost on time for work, was appreciated by the little ones at Agapeland Nursery School and Arrows of Destiny Christian Academy on 12 May for Mother’s Day.

The two institutions invited parents to celebrate the auspicious occasion, themed ‘one in a million Mother’s Day 2017’, where they were entertained and treated to tea and cake by the children as a token of gratitude for being amazing parents.
The junior phase together with Golden Arrows, which is the school choir, sang for the parents, while the senior children held a poetry session and decorated bottles with jelly bean sweets and a sticker, reminding them that they are one in a million.

Excited parents Elizabeth van Wyk and Debbie Newberry were left very impressed. Van Wyk told Roodepoort Northsider that, “It shows how much the school and the kids appreciate us.”
Another parent Jocelyn Botes said she felt very special as a mother to be celebrated by her daughter Mia and the school.

Jennifer Porter, the school principal, was overwhelmed by the support from the parents.
“We had a very good turnout. Moms need to feel appreciated, special and treated as one in a million because that’s what they are to their children. It’s important to us because these kids would not be able to wake and come to school if it wasn’t for their parents,” she said.
Porter commended every good mother experiencing hardship, but still striving to provide for their children. “Days are difficult and there’s a lot of pressure trying to juggle everything in life such as school, work and finances,” she concluded.
