Black eagles at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens have yet to breed
POORTVIEW – No eggs have been laid as yet for black eagle pair.
There are still no signs of eggs in the nest of the black eagles in Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.
Member of the Roodekrans Black Eagle Project, Johann van den Berg, reported that the building of the new nest is still in progress.
Van den Berg added that the eagle pair were spotted in the old nest for a short period of time before returning to build their new nest.
According to Van den Berg, other mating pairs of black eagles in Wonderboom and Klipriversberg have already laid eggs and the incubation process is well underway.
He said there is little information as to when a young female reaches sexual maturity.
Members of the project will keep a vigilant eye on the pair and are still hopeful that they will mate this season.
