Joburg Water had been on the scene to investigate and established it was not sewage, but still, the problem continued and Green did not know who else to turn to.

She began to phone Joburg Water at least two to three times a week from February to try and get the problem solved.
“It is slowly eating away at the road. We try to be conscious of the water we use but when you want to report an issue, there is little to no response,” Green said.
However, Tidimalo Chuene, marketing and communications manager for Joburg Water assured her that the leaking pipe was fixed at the end of April. Once the pipe was repaired and the road was back-filled, Chuene said Joburg Roads Agency will attend to tarring the patch.
“We are hopeful that the technique and materials used this time will provide a permanent solution. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience experienced by residents in the area,” Chuene added.

Green confirmed that Joburg Water was working further up in Amarant Street and fixed the leak. However, small trickles of water are still leaking out of the hole outside her residence. She added that Joburg Roads Agency filled up the potholes along the street, but did not fill in the hole near her driveway.
“Since it is not much of a pothole and it is so close to the kerb, I do not think they noticed it,” said Green.
