Golfers raise funds for Education Through Soccer

RUIMSIG – Education Through Soccer swaps the soccer field for the golf course for a fun-filled fundraiser.

Education Through Soccer (ETS) held its annual golf day fundraiser at Ruimsig Country Club.

Parents of ETS players, friends of the club and members of the community gathered to play Stableford four-ball better-ball.

About 70 prizes were up for grabs and even a car could be won for the lucky golfer who shot a hole-in-one at the 5th hole. Some holes had a fun sponsored theme, such as the first hole, where golfers had to take their shot while standing in tyres.

One of their main fundraising events, the money raised will be going towards floodlights for the ETS’ grounds.

“Thank you to Stuart Gray and his team for all the time and effort they put into organising this day,” said Lloyd Tuffney, founder of ETS. “Many of the children in the club are underprivileged and we need the support as they are part of the Soweto Academy League. A golf day is a nice way to raise funds and have something for the adults.”

Golfers gather around the 1st hole in preparation for the start of the golf day.

The club’s next fundraiser will be a bingo night in May for their U10 team who is going to Spain.
