MULDERSDRIFT – Police are working around the clock to arrest a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident which claimed the life of a cyclist on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

The arrest of the motorist who knocked over and killed a cyclist on Hendrik Potgieter Road near the Cradlestone Mall on 30 March, is imminent.

According to Muldersdrift Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi, information has come forward, but police are still investigating the matter in order to arrest the correct suspect.

“Someone saw something and that person was behind the car that knocked and killed the cyclist,” he said, adding that they are still waiting for a positive ID from the eyewitness.

It was reported that the cyclist was hit by an unidentified vehicle and allegedly dragged by the vehicle for about 20 metres and left alongside the road, near the mall.

Although Masedi could not divulge all the information regarding the wanted suspect or the vehicle, he indicated that the detectives involved were on high alert.
