All smooth on Glover Road
HONEYDEW – Residents of Glover Road are satisfied with the service of Hans Road contractors.
Residents of Glover Road have had no more issues due to the Hans Road upgrade.
Besides more traffic on Glover Road, the contractors of the upgrade have continued to the keep the road maintained.
Kerryn Maher, owner of Glover Paddocks Equestrian Centre on Glover Road, confirmed the contractors had kept their promises.
She added that there was a lot more traffic but she gave the contractors credit for their efforts.
Maher hoped the upgrade would widen the bend that joins Hans and Glover Road, as it is very sharp and motorists take the bend at speed.
“I would be okay with the road closures if the road was made safer,” said Maher.
Ward 97 councillor Leah Knott, said the contractors have been very willing to cooperate and it was their suggestion to grade and maintain Glover Road.
The site foreman and engineer’s numbers were given to the residents in case there were any issues.
She added that speed bumps were installed on Plein Street to further ensure motorists’ safety, as individuals had been speeding along this route.
“People need to slow down on those roads. The max speed should be 40km/h,” Knott said.
All the dust kicked up by speeding cars was an issue that could be avoided by sticking to this speed limit.
Knott added that the upgrade included proper tarring of the road, as most of the agricultural roads in the area consisted of a very thin layer of tar.
The road would be widened and have proper drainage.
Chevrons will be placed on the corner of Hans Road which becomes Glover to curb speeding. Knott advised motorists not to take the bend too quickly and adhere to the speed limit.
The upgrade is estimated to be complete by 28 April.
