It was a hive of activity on 25 March at Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel as scores of parents and children gathered at the school for a fun-filled annual sports day.
Children from as young as three months old to Grade R took part in the annual event and an Alice in Wonderland family fun day.

The school’s operational head of Curro Castle Nursery School, Nicole Botha said they will be hosting this event every year.
“This is one of our activities which helps parents, children and teachers to bond together,” she said.
One of the school’s teachers, Cindy Bosch, said they believe in learning through play.
“In order for children to experience learning, they should explore while simultaneously having fun,” she said.

She said they were like one big family working together to develop children. “I am truly blessed to be part of a school like this. We all love and care for each other,” she said.
The school’s marketing and enrolments officer, Palesa Mahonko, said children learn through play and the first annual sports day was a success with great assistance from the parents.
“This is more or less like a bonding session for our parents and children. Our school is only three months old and given these parents’ reception it shows that it will go a long way,” she said.

Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel was officially opened at the beginning of this year.
