Members of a Zandspruit crime syndicate handed hefty sentences

MULDERSDRIFT – Harsh sentence expected for Zandspruit gang who have caused terror over the years in Zandspruit

 

 

Muldersdrift Police Station has applauded two of its hardworking investigating officers who brought down a Zandspruit crime syndicate, which had terrorised the Muldersdrift area between 2012 and 2014.

Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi, spokesperson for the station told Roodepoort Northsider that between 2012 and 2014 the precinct experienced a spike in house robberies, rapes and murders.

After a thorough investigation by Sergeant Molefi Manana and Constable Mcedi Bambiso, Masedi added that a five-man gang was arrested in Zandspruit and Diesploot.

“The suspects were arrested in December 2014, two of whom were from Zandspruit and three others from Diepsloot. Two firearms were recovered and linked to crimes in Muldersdrift,” Masedi said.

The gang has since appeared in Kagiso Regional Court individually from 2014, with two being sentenced already.

One gang member was sentenced to 95 years’ imprisonment and the other to 40 years.

He also confirmed that the remaining three suspects were expected to be sentenced on 22 March in the Protea Magistrates’ Court.
