Founder of the charity, Stephan Ferreira, confirmed that the final donation count was 1 187 jars of Purity and 1 255 chocolate slabs. The original goal was to collect 400 slabs of chocolate and 300 jars of Purity.

“I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing experience this has been. Even though most of the residents [of the homes] were not even aware of the fact that it was Valentine’s Day, they welcomed us with open arms and were so appreciative of such a small gesture. We made new friends, shed a few tears, received a lot of hugs and kisses and memories we will treasure forever,” said Ferreira about the handout of the donations.

The charity was able to give slabs of chocolate to Florama Old Age Home in Roodepoort; Huis Moria in Krugersdorp; Huis Hoeveld in Albertville; St Michael’s Village Retirement Centre in Weltevreden Park; Serenity Nursing Home in Randburg, and still had enough to deliver to the Tower of Life Homeless Shelter in Krugersdorp as well as the Krugersdorp Fire Department.

“We are already hard at work with our March project and our goal is to make and deliver as many meals as we can for homeless people across Johannesburg as well as a few very special kids from informal settlements. We will deliver sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cold drink, muffins, cupcakes and other treats,” Ferreira added.
