Precious water goes to waste

RUIMSIG – It's been almost a week since a water leak was reported by concerned residents to Mogale City Municipality.

Residents from Ruimsig Country Estate are disappointed by the lack of response from Mogale Local City Municipality after they reported a water leak a few days ago.

According to residents of the estate, the leak started over the weekend from a burst pipe and it seems their plea had fallen on deaf ears. The residents had taken the issue up with the estate manager, Sharon Palos, who had not given them feedback.

In an interview, Palos confirmed the leak and said, “A meeting has been scheduled with the local councillor Johannes Kotze. I am very aware of the leak and I will be meeting with the councillor.”

Kotze confirmed the meeting and said he was only notified about the leak a while after it started, but has already informed the relevant department. “I got to know about this issue this week when the estate manager contacted me, but I have instructed the department to work on this issue, and it should be repaired soon,” Kotze explained.

A follow-up will be published once the municipality has provided comment.
