Honeydew Fight Club recently encouraged gym fanatics to start as early as January to prepare for those December beach six-packs and sexy figures which everyone dreams of showing off during the festive season.
Public relations officer and trainer, Darren Norton told Roodepoort Northsider that people tend to join the club at the last minute and hope to achieve the desired results. “People come to us between October and November hoping to get results for December,” he said.

He added that a team of trainers tries to get clients to their desired levels of fitness by putting in the hours and effort. “When a client requires a year’s worth of training in a month, we train the person every day of the month to achieve those results.”
Eljanne Strydome from Wilgeheuwel said it was not her new year’s resolution to lose weight, but decided to join the club because she wanted to share the same purpose as her fellow gym mates. “When you join a gym you find people who share the same morals and purpose in life,” she said.

The idea of summer bodies was also made available to children. First-timers Kayden and Cameron Heldsinger from Panorama Primary School said they loved the idea of joining a gym in the beginning of the year in order to pace themselves well.
Sebastian Santos (14) and workout friend Paige Coetzee (8) were pleased with the trainers’ professionalism and how they make an activity easy for children. “The trainers are friendly and they push you to your limit. They also get involved in your personal space when needs be,” said Santos, who wishes to be a professional boxer such as Percy ‘The Kool Kid’ Mkhize from the club.
