Two couples share the excitement of Christmas Day babies
WILGEHEUWEL – Parents excited to take home and introduce their precious Christmas baby gifts to their families.
While many families sat around the Christmas tree and shared presents yesterday, two Weltevreden Park couples could not have asked for a better Christmas gift, after giving birth on 25 December.
The couples were the only to welcome Christmas babies at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital on Christmas Day. Both babies were born in the morning.
Overwhelmed first-time parents, Ronald and Kelly Smith told Roodepoort Northsider, their new born, Liam, weighing 3,4 Kilograms and 49cm tall, is a blessing. “We could not have asked for a better Christmas. Everyone is excited about the baby and we can’t wait to take him home,” said Ronald.
Kelly saw the birth of her baby as a miracle after she was scheduled to give birth in January. “My original date was 13 January and I was booked for the 5th for my C-section operation. However baby Liam chose to come sooner than expected.”
“I would not have asked for a better Christmas present,” said a joyful Kelly.

The second couple welcomed their new-Christmas-born a few hours later following the Smith family.
Hildah Muthambi, married to Doctor Tendani, greeted their third born, and the first girl in their family at 11.30am.
Hildah who was rushed to the maternity ward in the early hours of Christmas, said she was excited to finally have a girl child in her family of boys. “It’s my first girl and I’m excited to have her especially on Christmas. My family cannot wait cuddle her when we get home,” said Hildah, who was being assisted by nurse, Zwani Zwi Zulu.
Both couples have already have started planning their new-borns’ futures. Ronald said he hopes his boy becomes a rugby player while Hildah hoped that her child walks in her father’s footsteps and becomes a doctor.
