No luggage, no worries

In today's world you can rent almost anything, even your clothes!

With the holiday season nearly upon us, our thoughts are occupied with travel arrangements and suitcases that need to be packed.

Yet, according to the Sunday Times, the future of travel could be flying luggage-free.

In the Global Travel Trends 2016 report released by market research group Euromonitor, researchers identify a range of shoe and clothing rental services that have launched in recent years.

An example is unPack. The process is simple. After filling in an online form, which includes your clothing size, preferred brands and travel destination, unPack will send a suitcase filled with clothes and toiletries to your hotel, ready to be picked up on arrival. At the end of the stay, the customer returns the suitcase to the front desk.

The service also helps fliers avoid baggage fees and hoteliers have also recognised the opportunity for retail rentals.

“The clothes rental trend has implications beyond travel as it offers great potential to the fashion industry,” said World Travel Market senior director, Simon Press in a statement reported by the Sunday Times.

“Savvy clothes designers and retailers can reach out to a large captive audience, especially as there is an estimated 28.5 million hotel rooms worldwide.”
