All roads lead to the Eagle 5’s finals
RUIMSIG – PSG beat Unfit in a close encounter 6–5, to reach the playoffs.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) narrowly pipped the team, Unfit, in a scintillating game that ended 6–5 at the Eagle 5’s soccer arena at the Ruimsig Country Club.
The result in their second last group match in the Thursday five-a-side soccer league on 20 October, left PSG six points clear at the top of the league, and certain of a place in the playoffs in the next few weeks.
“We passed the ball around the field well and really played a tidy game,” commented PSG captain Ryan Rigney. Unfit captain, Shaun Majendie, boasted that his team put on a good performance against fierce opposition, taking them to the dying seconds of the 40-minute game.
“They [PSG] have played longer than we have,” he said. “We are just a bunch of mates who like to play soccer. It was a good game though and they caught us a few times so it was just unlucky.”
Eagle 5’s co-owner Steve Botha invited residents to come through and watch the games, but especially to come through on 6 November when the finals for the arena’s four leagues will be held on the same day.
