WATCH: From Boskop to big screen
HONEYDEW – Grade 7 pupil is on the rise to fame with two movie roles under her belt.
Boskop Primary School has their very own star in the making.
Kwande Nkosi, a Grade 7 pupil of Boskruin, is going places and has already starred in two movies. She has just finished making the film, Alone in which she plays the role of Gracie. “It is about a little girl who can see monsters,” she explained. Kwande previously also starred in the local film, Mrs Right Guy.
She said she does not know exactly how she got into acting as she started before she was two years old. “I acted in nappy commercials,” giggled Kwande.
It, however, is not a surprise as her father is a singer and her sister, Letoya Makhene is an actress in the soap opera, Generations. Her other sister, Gile also acts in commercials. “I love acting so much as it is in my blood.”
Kwande may have been to many acting auditions in her young life, but explained that she still gets nervous when she goes for one. “The hardest part about acting in Alone was the long hours and being away from my family. I have two families – one at home and one at school.”
This little girl with a big, friendly smile explained that she had to be on set every day from 5pm to 7am and missed her family as this is usually the time that they eat dinner and do fun things as a family.
Luckily she did not miss much school work as she had a tutor with her on set. “She got all my school work from school and I would do it if I had time on set.” She added that although it is tough to be away from friends and family, she loves meeting new people on set. “I want to be a full-time actress one day and also want to be a part-time pilot.”
This young actress advises other child actors to never be a ‘diva’. “Just be yourself and people will like you.”
