UPDATE: Missing nightmare over

HONEYDEW – A mother is relieved and very happy that her daughter is home safe after she was missing for over three weeks.

After an ordeal that lasted about 23 days, the missing 15-year old, Phomolo Mokgatlhe has finally been found and returned home safely on 4 September.

A family spokesperson confirmed that Phomolo was found and collected from Berea. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known. Phomolo went missing on 12 August from her school, Far North Secondary School in Cosmo City. Since then, her mother, Evelyn Mokgathle and Detective Duma from Honeydew Police Station have been working non-stop to find her.

Evelyn explained that her daughter’s phone was left at home. On 1 September at around 4.45pm, Evelyn received a phone call on Phomolo’s phone from a man claiming that he saw her somewhere in town. On Saturday, the man phoned again and asked if Evelyn wanted to talk to her daughter. Phomolo said that she wanted to come home and asked her mother to pick her up.

She was picked up the next day.

“I am very happy that she is back. It feels like a dream and I am going to wake up,” said Evelyn. She added that her daughter does not want to talk yet. Phomolo will be taken for counselling tomorrow (6 September).
