Poor thinking vs rich thinking
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Public speaker, Douglas Kruger gives people advice on how to become wealthy with his fourth book.
Public speaker, business strategist, author and resident of Weltevreden Park, Douglas Kruger, has a fourth book on the shelves with a fifth one coming out in January. This book, however, differs from his others as it is not a business book, but a book on wealth.
Kruger said, “Is Your Thinking Keeping You Poor? is different from my other books, because this one is my baby.”
He explained that there is a little bit of his own personal story in the book. “I grew up in Struben’s Valley, but at one point we struggled financially, so much that the church had to give us food packs.” He added that growing up in a relatively well-off suburb gave him the opportunity to see both sides of the wealth spectrum.
Kruger said that, in summary, the book is about the difference in thinking between the rich and the poor. He gave an example from the book.
“People in South Africa that are already struggling have very big funerals. We need to change the way we think about money.”
He said that there are many leading books on wealth, but all the classics are summarised in his book, along with his own personal financial story. “In all the classics they tend to give one idea on how to solve finance issues, but like in all my other books, I give people 50 different tips.”
He added that this book took him six years to write as all the ideas were bubbling in his head. “It is like I am having a personal conversation with the reader and giving them advice.”
Kruger concluded that he would like to tell people that if you think about hours worked equals money earned, you will stay poor. “Raise the value of each hour that you work.”
