Three suspects were arrested in Allen’s Nek by Honeydew SAPS and Beagle Watch.
Spokesperson of the Honeydew Police, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, confirmed that the incident happened last week at about 11am. A homeowner in Gewelhuis Avenue in Allen’s Nek alerted Beagle Watch to a suspicious White Volkswagen Polo.
According to Jacobs, they chased the vehicle, whereafter the suspects lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall. Members of the SAPS K9 unit were also involved in the chase. Jacobs explained that three suspects were arrested. “Three unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered,” said Jacobs. She added that electronic equipment like flat screen TVs, PlayStations, laptops and cellphones were recovered.
“The suspects’ vehicle was hijacked during June in Brooklyn,” said Jacobs.
The suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on 15 August and is currently in custody.
