Pothole problems on Cranberry Street
HONEYDEW – Potholes on Cranberry Street is getting out of control. JRA is now aware of the problem.
Cranberry Street in Honeydew makes for a bumpy ride as a large part of the road is riddled with potholes. The problem is that the potholes ranges in size and are all over the road, so avoiding them is difficult.
Many motorists need to use this part of the street as there are many businesses on this street. Bertha Scheepers, spokesperson of Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) thanked Roodepoort Northsider for the inquiry and said that she has logged the issue. “The issue will be repaired by the JRA regional depot,” said Scheepers.
Scheepers that there are a number of reasons for potholes forming such as road structure, traffic, water erosion and even diesel or chemical spillage. “However, potholes are mainly caused by water and therefore during wet weather conditions, the prevalence of potholes on our roads increases,” said Scheepers.
She added that JRA’s resurfacing programme is currently underway city-wide and there has been a significant reduction in pothole reporting due to the quality of the new road surfaces.
