The voice of business in Roodepoort
FLORIDA PARK - The Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry will soon accept nominees for the Business of the Year.
The Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci) prides itself on being the voice of business in Roodepoort and is preparing to award deserving businesses.
Rocci will soon start its annual Business of the Year competition, where businesses from the West and East Rand and Pretoria will compete for the title of business of the year. A panel of independent judges will scrutinize each business and award a gold, silver and bronze award to the deserving businesses.
Any business, regardless of whether they are a member of Rocci can be nominated. The chamber encourages the public to nominate businesses who the community feel deserve to be recognised for going the extra mile. Nominations close end of August. This is one of Rocci’s initiatives to create a platform for businesses to grow and thrive.
President of Rocci, Marietjie Esterhuizen and chamber manager, Isabel Janse van Rensburg, explained how the chamber is there to promote business’ interests, create networking platforms and provide training for businesses to run more effectively.
“You cannot afford to not belong to a chamber. We have professionals in every industry that we can call on to assist or mentor you, which is a huge benefit to smaller businesses,” said Janse van Rensburg.
Esterhuien added that it is amazing to see how the businesses who can help each other tend to gravitate towards each other through networking. Especially in the Lady Rocci meetings, tailored for women in business, Esterhuizen explained that it is a comfort to hear you are not the only one with the same struggles and you are empowered by the support structure.
Rocci welcomes one-man shows to large corporate companies. Non-members are also allowed to drop in on Rocci events to see what the chamber is all about. “We do not lock out NPOs. We can not lock them out as they are there to help out the community,” Janse van Rensburg added.
