The IEC said this is a record amount of parties contesting in the elections. Take a look at some of them:

Did you know there are 200 different parties contesting in the 2016 municipal elections on 3 August? Yes, really!
The IEC said a record 200 parties and 61 014 candidates will contest the 2016 municipal elections on 3 August. This is about 65 percent more parties than in the 2011 elections.

- Patriotic Alliance
- Congress of the People
- Prem People’s Agenda
- Truly Alliance
