A sky filled with glistening spheres

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Welridge Academy celebrates Ascension Thursday one ascending bubble at a time.

Welridge Academy celebrated a special Christian holiday that commemorates the Ascension of the Lord into Heaven.

The day was celebrated on 5 May and the school made sure not to miss the opportunity to acknowledge its importance.

Personal assistant to the principal, Margaux Needham said that the pupils set time aside on Ascension Day to reflect on the day Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven. “He made a promise to mankind to return in the same way He left,” said Needham.

She added that the visiting Pastor, Gerrit Mess, was amazed by how much the pupils knew about Jesus as he shared with them the story behind Ascension Day in Acts Chapter 1.

To get the pupils even more involved and inspired to ascend into their own greatness, after the lesson they enjoyed time together blowing bubbles into the sky as symbolism of Jesus ascending into the sky.

Needham concluded that the skyline was filled with glistening little spheres reflecting in the warm sunshine. “Much laughter and fun was shared between the learners and teachers on this special occasion.”
