Glover riders excel in Gauteng West Inter-School League

HONEYDEW – Team Glover acquired top positions during the Gauteng West Inter-School League.

Riders from the Glover Paddocks Equestrian Park (GPEP) excelled at the second qualifier of the Inter-School League.

The competition was held at Maple Ridge on 8 and 9 April with competitive horse riders coming from across Gauteng West.

GPEP riders excelled with nearly all participating riders receiving a placing. Their riders took part in levels ranging from beginner-lead-rein classes to the most advanced classes.

Isabella Saunders, riding in the level 0 lead-rein classes, received a second in dressage and third in performance riding.

Megan Ras and Catherine Priest, riding in the level 0 lead-rein classes performed exceptionally well. Ras achieved second in performance riding while Priest achieved third position in working riding as well as fourth in performance riding.

Level one riders also dominated the classes, with Rae-Kyndra Ragoobeer receiving a third place in working riding, Karla Strydom received a fourth place in working riding and sixth in dressage and prix caprilli.

Jolanda Janse van Rensburg received a second place in working riding as well as a third and fourth in prix caprilli. Elizabeth Yates scored a second in performance, as well as thirds in dressage and prix caprilli.

Team Glover also took a number of placings in the jumping classes, with Christiaan Prinsloo scoring a first and fourth while Anya Brink scored a second and third in 50cm jumping.

Chad Heroldt was placed sixth, Julia Bald third and two second places while Lailah Bald reached a fourth and fifth place in 70cm jumping, and Nicole Duvenage placed fourth in 90cm jumping.

These riders again took over in the equitation classes, with Nicole Duvenage receiving first place in 90cm, Nivae Almeida first place in 70cm, Julia and Lailah Bald – second and fifth place in 70cm and Anya Brink and Christiaan Prinsloo receiving fifth and sixth places respectively in the 50cm class.

Aisling McCarthy, one of the instructors at GPEP said, “Although it was a tough show, Team Glover really pulled through. I am so proud of all my riders on their outstanding results.”

The third qualifier show will take place on 30 April and 1 May.
