JOBURG – The most romantic day of the year is upon us and here are some romantic events that you and your significant other can do on Valentine's Day.
Flowers, roses and champagne will provide the backdrop for this Valentines Day as it falls on the Sunday this year. Around 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually and this makes it the second most popular card-sending day after Christmas. So, since love is in the air and it is celebrated, women are reminded that it is a leap year and they are allowed to go down on their knees and ask their significant other for a lifetime commitment. Out There Session – Poetry and Jazz presented by Myesha Jenkins with guest poets live at The Orbit!
Out There Session with Myesha Jenkins is back at The Orbit every third Tuesday of the month, and this week two amazing guest poets will be on stage at The Orbit. Phillippa Yaa de Villiers lectures at Wits University in the Creative Writing Department. She has been performing poetry since 2002, published widely in local and international journals, has published two books and co-edited an anthology of African poetry that was translated into Mandarin. Sibusiso Simelane (aka Conelius Jones) is a poet based in the City of Gold, Johannesburg. His enthralling poetry moves the soul outside of its comfort zone. His imagery is reflective and his words have solid substance. Together, all of this results in a type of energy that is mind blowing the moment he opens his mouth.
