Teenagers fight off fire at neighbour’s house
LITTLE FALLS – Teenagers risk their lives to help a neighbour.
Teenage brothers Ethan (17) and Jared (16) Scrooby are hailed as heroes after turning into firefighters to save their neighbour’s house in Victoria Park, Little Falls.
Grade 11 pupil Ethan said it was at about 9pm when the incident happened.

Ethan said he was outside helping another neighbour fix his car, when he noticed the lights go off in the area.
His neighhbours, a couple and their baby, left the house that evening, but Ethan and Jared did not know this.
After a while, Ethan noticed smoke coming from a window.
He and Jared acted immediately
“Without wasting time, we just pulled the fire hose and started extinguishing the fire by spraying through the house window,” he said.
The boys said all they could think of was the little baby.
“We knew the couple had a baby and we thought the baby was inside the house,” he said.
The boys’ father, Alan Scrooby, said he was proud that the boys managed to help before the house burned to the ground.
Both boys are pupils at Allen Glen High School.
It is believed that a stove was left on before the electricity went off, and when power returned, it sparked a fire.
