WRA spread Christmas cheer

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Community members attend a Christmas braai, hosted by Welview Resident's Association.

The Welview Resident’s Association (WRA) hosted its annual Christmas braai on 5 December in Sedge Street.

WRA chairperson Tana Cope said both adults and children enjoyed the event even though the temperatures were high.

“Children were excited when Santa Clause made his appearance in a big red fire engine to hand them presents,” said Cope.

She added adults enjoyed themselves around the fire and took the opportunity to get to know their neighbours.

Cope said the event that was hosted by the WRA committee started at 3pm and carried on until after sun-set.

“Children played, jumped on a jumping castle, did artwork with paint and stickers, kicked balls and rode their bicycles. Salads and rolls were supplied with what residents could enjoy their braaied meat,” said Cope.

She explained the function was held to end off the year with something fun for everybody and so that community members could get to know each other better.

Cope said the WRA is planning to make braais like these a more frequent occurrence as it creates a sense of closeness among residents.

“Residents can look forward to Easter egg hunts, Halloween trick-or-treating and many more activities in 2016,”said Cope.

Cope said the goal of the WRA their is to provide a safe environment to all residents and visitors.
