Elderly walk for fun
KRUGERSDORP – Belenois Retirement Village hosts their annual Fun Walk in Muldersdrift.
Residents of Belenois Retirement Village near the Silverstar Casino proved they might be old but far from cold during their annual fun walk on 7 October.
Village administrator Annelize Barnard said the residents have been looking forward to the event all year round and could barely wait for the starting bell to ring.
Barnard said Paws for people who offers animal-assisted therapy and animal-assisted activity programmes were present with their therapy dogs and joined in the fun with the elderly.
She said Quick Response were also there to assist in the possible case of an emergency.
After the residents completed the walk, the day was ended off with a braai in the club house to the sounds of golden oldie Afrikaans singer Vicky du Preez.
Belenois Retirement Village Matron Renee Richards and all the staff said they were pleased and thankful to be associated with Belenois as it is rewarding to know they are making a difference in the lives of elderly people.
