Horse riding derby in Glover Paddocks
HONEYDEW – Horse riding derby helps raise funds to replace stolen equipment.
Over 200 horse riders from Honeydew participated at the Glover Paddocks Derby recently.
Horse and rider had to leap across water, down banks and over various jumps, all in a grass arena.
“The course was a real test for the skill and stamina of both rider and horse. Young and old, experienced and novice riders were all there, to show off their skills,” said Michael Maher from Glover Paddocks.
Buco Honeydew, with its equestrian department, was the main sponsor, offering great prizes and support for equestrian sport in the whole area.
Fundraising also took place as a means to replace equipment recently stolen,” added Maher.
Aisling McCarthy from Derby Show public relations explained that Buco aided in the replacement of the tack immediately – offering amazing discounts on new tack for the ponies, as well as sponsoring huge prizes for the show and offering their support on the day.
