GALLERY: SA dancers go international

ROODEPOORT – Local dancers make big moves on the international stages bringing home two silver medals.

South African hip-hop dance came to life in Italy at the World Hip-Hop Championships on 20 to 25 October showcasing SA’s best.

The dancers are members of the Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy based at the Noordheuwel Shopping Centre.

The dance crews not only made themselves proud but help put SA hip-hop dance on the international scene.

The crews all placed in the top 20 of the championships.

Two of the crews did exceptionally well, ranking second in the world for their respective age groups.

Precision Crew (16–25 years) and Little Precision (8–11 years) both ‘duggied’ their way to two silver championship medals, making them rank second in the world for their respective groups.

Head dance coach, Mario Gomes could not be any prouder of all his dancers.

“It is such an achievement for all of them, and every single one of them did their best,” Gomes said

The dance academy will be hosting auditions from 2 to 4 December at the Noordheuwel Shopping Centre.

“You don’t have to be an experienced dancer to audition – it’s an open call to all,” said Gomes.

Joining the crew could give you the opportunity at national and international dance competitions.
