Maragon hosts own Idols

RUIMSIG – Maragon Private Schools Primary School announces the winners of their very own annual Idols competition.

A group of talented young Maragon Private Schools Primary School singers auditioned on 16 October in the school’s hall for the school’s very own Idols competition.

ADvTECH marketing manager Belinda Espag said the pupils performed before a panel of esteemed adjudicators.

“Behind the scenes the school’s own sound engineers worked hard to accommodate the participants,” said Espag.

She said seven pupils qualified for the next round that took place on 18 October.

Roberta Mashitisho, Lesedi Pobe, Bonolo Mlambo, Samantha Maasdam, Khwezi Nyawose, Philip Obermeyer and Alyson Tunbridge were then chosen to be the semi-finalists.

She said the participants were adjudicated by a panel of four adjudicators.

Espag said after a tough choice the winners were announced.

Alyson Tunbridge (Grade 4) was announced as the winner.

The runner-up was Bonolo Mlambo (Grade 5) and Samantha Maasdam (Grade 6) came third.

Espag said the competition is a fantastic way to teach children how to gain confidence by performing before an audience.

“Besides the fact that the competition gives the participants life skills they are also judged by outstanding adjudicators who understand children and can direct them in the right direction. This process nurtures them and helps improve their talent and build their confidence,” said Espag.

Espag said the school is excited about the Idols 2016 competition.
