Local musician proves to be worth his salt

CONSTANTIA KLOOF – Local musician Olothando Ndamase generates a new genre with his Afro-pop music infused with soul and other genres.

Olothando Ndamase (25) a local musician is proud of his Afro-pop roots, although he does not like to pin his songs to a particular genre.

Ndamanse, originally from the Eastern Cape, said he started his career as a musician at a young age and was known for his musical talent at the schools he attended.

“During my school years I did choral music which is both interesting and fun, especially when you also have to learn languages like French, Portuguese, or other foreign languages,” said Ndamanse.

He said through choral music he learned to play a character but still interpreted each song with his own unique abilities.

Ndamase said it has been his life-long dream to be a musician.

“I never cared about money, the only thing I want is to be heard,” said Ndamanse.

He is currently working on a new album that will be released soon and plans to make it one of the best albums to have come from a self-signed artist.

Ndamanse spends most of his time in studio but said in December he will perform in Newtown to let people get a taste of his new album.

He concluded by saying his future plans are bright and he is excited to see what will come of his career.
