GALLERY: Impophomo golf day promotes awareness

HONEYDEW –The NGO Impophomo hosts golf day at Jackal Creek Golf Estate to create awareness and source new partners.

The NGO Impophomo Rushing Waters hosted a golf day at Jackal Creek Golf Estate on 25 September to create awareness and source new partners for the company.

Umzizi Sustainability and Network manager Jacques Flok explained Impophomo that means “running water” focuses on projects such as Career Building, Youth and Sports Development and Urban Food Security in the informal settlement Zandspruit.

Flok said during the Career Building programme they host a six week course during which they help Matric students find a career.

“We partner the children up with professionals to guide them and help them find an appropriate career,”said Flok.

He further said that during the Youth and Sports Development programme they raise awareness of sports in the community by hosting a soccer tournament.

“This year we had 260 participants,” said Flok.

He then explained the focus of the golf day was on their Development and Urban Food Security project during which they educate households to be self sustainable and to market their own products.

Impophomo is funded by the corporate company Umzizi that focuses on implementing local economic development programmes for mining companies.

Flok said he is very impressed with the success the day has generated,
