Eskom said there is no load shedding scheduled for the week but users should use electricity sparingly as the possibility is still there.
Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said the power supply is currently stable but the risk that the demand might be greater than the supply still remains.
Phasiwe said the power supply will be especially tight during peak hours from 15 to 18 September as Eskom is currently maintaining a power unit in Mozambique that supplies Eskom with power.
“We will continue to monitor the situation, and should it be necessary to implement load shedding, we will communicate this accordingly,” said Phasiwe.
He explained the electricity demand is increasing due to the increased usage of air-conditioners, geysers and pool pumps.
“Businesses and households can make a difference by implementing saving measures,”said Phasiwe
He further said Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all media platforms.
