He explained that the Gauteng Getaway Show’s 250 interactive exhibits included international, local and African destinations, accommodation, outdoor gear, 4×4 products and accessories, caravans and trailers, camping equipment and adventure activities.
Dicks pointed out that outdoor, adventure and travel agent exhibitors showcased their wares to showgoers as there were many different ways to travel and tour.
He indicated the variety of holiday destinations across South Africa that did not cost too much money and were close by.
“I would rather have a really good holiday than a bank account full of money. The memories that you make while on holiday will last you forever,” he said. Dicks added that they had a slightly higher attendance this year as opposed to last year.
Katlego Morudi, who attended the Getaway Show for the first time, said that she enjoyed it because it inspired her to go on a holiday, and showed her that there were many different ways to do so.
