Meet Sean (9), a future sports star

RUIMSIG – Sean has already earned colours in cricket and soccer.

Sean Simoncelli (9) is a talented young sports player excelling in both cricket and soccer.

Already, he has earned colours for both as he endures his commitment and dedication to the sports.

This Grade 4 pupil at Maragon Private Schools represented the western Gauteng U10 district cricket team at the Action Cricket Juniors Inter-provincial Tournament.

Sean, a resident of Ruimsig, is also the U10 cricket captain and was selected to play in the central-west primary cricket team.

“Sport is a career path that I want to follow in the future,” said an enthusiastic Sean.

The youngster is a member of the (Education Through Soccer) ETS Football Club in Ruimsig.

Sean practises soccer on Monday evenings at the ETS soccer field and cricket on Wednesdays.

His mother Belinda explained that he loves sports.

“Sean has grown ever since he joined the ETS Club,” said Belinda.

She further added that sport activities were teaching her son good values about life, specifically, discipline and dedication.

The ETS coach Lloyd Tuffnuy explained that Sean is a talented young player and football could take him to the international level.

“If he puts his mind to it and practise very hard, he can go far,” said Tuffnuy.

He explained that the youngster played very well and they were in the process of registering him to play in their U13 Academy.

“Our academy gives young players exposure and an opportunity to be selected by bigger clubs,” he concluded.
