Swanepoel conquers historic Glendower
RUIMSIG – Swanepoel wins The Els Family Tournament at Glendower Golf Club.
RUIMSIG – Golfer Cameron Swanepoel (16) from Ruimsig Country Club sealed his first season in the A Division of the Glacier Junior Series with a tournament victory. This was in The Els Family Tournament at Glendower Golf Club on 26 July.
With three players in the clubhouse on rounds of 74, Swanepoel came in late in the afternoon and clinched the title with a round of one-over-par 73.
“It’s the first time I’ve played at Glendower. The greens were quick and the bunkers are very well placed. It’s not an easy course. And I’m proud to have won on a golf course such as this, with all its history,” he said.
Swanepoel’s best finish in the series before winning it, was second in the B division of the tournament. “I’m very happy because I worked really hard for this win,” he said.
