Honeydew resident shares her act of kindness
HONEYDEW – Mrs SA finalist Candice Abrahams shares an act of warmth with children from Footprints Play on 17 June.
Mrs SA finalist Candice Abrahams recently harnessed her unique strengths in the community.
As part of youth celebration month, the Honeydew resident shared her act of kindness this cold winter by organising blankets and soup for the children of Footprints Play in Lanseria on 17 June. Abrahams said Charlene van der Westhuizen, owner of Fight Club SA, a national chain of boxing gyms, approached her to help with the blanket drive.
“When I heard that the kids at Footprints Play in Lanseria needed blankets for the cold winter months, I felt so down and knew that something needed to be done,” said Abrahams.
She and her husband Ismail Abrahams, who is popularly known as a Metro FM radio host, also spent time exchanging stories with the children.
“I would like to urge the public to create their own blanket drive and share their acts of warmth to inspire others,” said Abrahams.
Meanwhile, Van der Westhuizen said the Footprints Play family has always been close to her heart.
” Last year saw the start of Fight Club SA, and we decided to do a blanket run for the children of Footprints Play,” added Van der Westhuizen.
