Mother and child hit and killed by car in Ruimsig
RUIMSIG – A woman and her child were killed on Peter Road in Ruimsig after they were hit by a light motor vehicle.
A woman and her two-year-old child were killed this morning [17 June] after they were hit by a light motor vehicle on Peter Road in Ruimsig.
According to spokesperson for ER24 Russel Meiring, paramedics arrived on scene and found the two lifeless bodies in the middle of the road.
“The light motor vehicle that had collided with the pedestrians stopped a few metres away,” Meiring said.
“On assessment, paramedics discovered that both the mother and child had sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene,” he added.
Meiring said the driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
It is understood that the driver of the vehicle failed to notice the pedestrians crossing the road, said Meiring.
