Outstanding academic record takes Tumelo to the top

WELTEVREDEN PARK — Panorama Primary School pupil is awarded a full scholarship at St John's college.

A Grade 7 pupil at Panorama Primary School, Weltevreden Park, has been awarded a full scholarship at one of the most prestigious private schools in the country.

Tumelo Mogano wrote an entrance exam at St John’s College at the beginning of the year with hundreds of other hopefuls, but only just a handful of the pupils were chosen.

“The scholarship covers Mogano’s boarding and tuition fees from grades 8 to 12. We are very proud of him – he is an outstanding academic. This is a fantastic opportunity,” said Steve Bezuidenhout, educator at Panorama Primary School .

The scholarship is valued at about R2 million for the academic period and only 10 other pupils were accepted.

Mogano, smart albeit quiet, said that he is eagerly looking forward to starting at his new school and is curious about his new classmates.

“The entrance exams [were] not difficult and I am just looking forward to everything about the school. I have been reading up about it and I love everything about it.”

Mogano said that his favourite subjects are Maths and Science and with brains like his, it is no surprise that he wants to be an astronomer.
